Happy Birthday, Pope Benedict XVI!

I posted about this a year ago... April 16th is Pope Benedict's 82nd birthday! Say a prayer for him, please, and for the Church which God has put under his care. Wolves hunt not only the sheep, but the shepherd too, so that the sheep will be without guidance. Pray for his continued resolve and endurance in the face of a secularized world which looks at the Church has some man-made institution on its way out.

I hope the Pope has a blessed birthday. May he have many years of service to the Church. I pray blessings upon blessings upon him this next year and the years to come. Thank you Jeff for letting us know about his birthday. It means alot as I have been touched and changed by so many of my catholic brothers and sisters in Christ. Do you think he will make a trip to the U.S. this next year perhaps. If so, where do you think he might stop?

God bless you Jeff and all you do on your blogs. I love the way you changed this blog and am fixing to check out critical mass. God bless you and your lovely wife in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit!

Jeff,
I am sorry to bother you again but don't know if my comment posted on critical mass or not. I want to tell you that you inspired me to participate in lent the first time ever in my life and that it has helped me grow in my faith and relationship with Almighty God. Word of thanks is not enough to share with you how I feel.

P.S.
What books would you recommend on becomming a Catholic?

If you could let me know here about what books are best in becomming Catholic I would appreciate it. I have family who read my blog and would dis-own me right now if I didn't explain what was going on in my life. God bless you and your influence on my faith and life in Christ Lord.

Hey Kinney! Sorry I didn't publish the comment on Critical Mass sooner. I didn't notice it.

If you are interested in books or "tracts" on becoming Catholic, I would suggest you FIRST read "Pillar of Fire, Pillar of Truth". You can read it online at Catholic Answers or you can order a copy. It is a very good introduction to the Catholic Church.

If you are curious what Catholics believe, I would suggest the "Compendium to the Catechism". You can read it online or buy a copy. (It's probably better to buy than try reading online, but that's just my opinion.)

Finally, this brief web page describes How to Become a Catholic.

May God continue to bless you during your trials and hardships, now in the Paschal season and for your whole life, Kinney!

As for the Pope's schedule, I doubt he'll be coming back to the US any time soon. There are many other countries he could visit, and I don't think we particularly need his PHYSICAL presence here.
